Rare Soul.

This page lists all 45's of any genre (Northern soul, modern soul, R&B etc) that are valued at over £50.

I'm quite happy to haggle on prices, particularly if you want to purchase more than one record, also if you can pay by cheque and save the PayPal fees! Drop me a line.

You might not agree that a Northern soul record costing less than £100 should be classed as rare but I think it makes sense in the context of my records for sale.

If you didn't find what you were looking for here then have a look on Ebay or Gemm by using the search boxes below.

Rare soul is a term that is beginning to be used to distinguish the one form of Northern Soul music from another.

The term "Northern Soul" now tends to evoke nostalgic memories of a time in people's youth (the 1970's) when they went out at weekends and danced all night. Some people's idea of northern soul is the music they heard in the 1970's and what they want to hear is something that reminds them of that era, i.e. music that is familiar to their ears and feet.

Those people who are still trying to search out and play new music or reactivate little known northern soul records are now referring to rare soul as opposed to northern soul in an attempt to distance themselves from the largely nostalgia based elements of the scene.

So rare soul records can either be looked at as those records which are somewhat harder to find than others, which tends to make them more expensive, or as records that generally weren't played in the 70's and are so not that well known to the northern soul scene.

The reality is somewhat blurred and so the definition of a rare soul record is one that is harder to find that your average northern soul record and so doesn't get played as much.

I'm just using the term rare soul to distinguish the less common, and thus more expensive, records from all the others that I am selling in an attempt to make it easier for those searching out the rarer records to find them on my site without having to go through everything.
